McAllen EITC/VITA Community Project (EITC/VITA) – Established in 2004 as a collaborative community service of Children’s Defense Fund – Rio Grande Valley (CDF-RGV), Internal Revenue (IRS), McAllen Chamber of Commerce and United Way of South Texas. Project services are provided in partnership with the various Independent School Districts, Affordable Homes of South Texas and the City of McAllen.
The McAllen EITC/VITA Community Project has over the past six years helped more than 3,000 McAllen area low-income workers claim more than $6 million in total tax credit refunds using free volunteer tax services.
